Greater Nashville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Position Description - Responsibilities and Requirements:

This mission related position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Susan G. Komen, Greater Nashville affiliate's mission programming, including grant making, community outreach, education programs and public policy initiatives.  These programs are critical for enhancing the organization’s mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.  This position requires an ability to build strong relationships with community organizations, volunteers, colleagues, public policy makers, other funders and the health care community.  The ideal candidate is committed to the Komen mission and the importance of raising awareness about breast cancer.

Salary:                       $35,000-$55,000

Position Qualification:Minimum of B.A./B.S. in public health, social work, or other related discipline. Masters degree in Health preferred.Minimum of 5 years experience in health related field; non profit experience a required.Have a valid driver’s license and access to transportation.

Candidate must also possess: Ability to develop collaborative relationships with healthcare facilities and community organizations.Comfort discussing breast health, cancer and related topics.Strong communication skills, both oral and writtenStrong problem-solving, priority-setting, and decision-making skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.Excellent organizational skills with focus on details and follow through to completion.Ability to develop strong working relationships with volunteers.Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft office suite, email, internet and previous experience with database systems.

This position requires travel, some evening and weekend work.

Primary Responsibilities

· Build, encourage and support partnerships and collaborations among medical providers, community organizations, schools, corporations, government agencies (i.e., health departments, etc.) and public policy makers.

· Oversee the Community Grants program to ensure a highly competitive grants process that funds high-impact outcome-based grants.

· Develop collaborative working relationship with grantees.

· Oversee education / outreach programs of the Affiliate.

· Supervise program staff and mission program volunteers.

· Serve as a resource for breast health services in the Affiliate service area to the general public, community organizations, medical facilities, and health professionals.

· Assist with research, development, analysis and content specific to the Affiliate Community Profile.

· Monitor program outcomes and impact.

· Develop and implement other activities that address the gaps in under-served populations through grants, education and/or public policy.

· Provide local communications support for all of the above program activities.

· Work with staff and contracted public relations firm to publicize education and grant events and program impact.

· Coordinate speakers bureau and health fair participation.

· Attend meetings related to position.

· Assist with budget development and ensure proper accounting for mission programs.

· Travel throughout Komen service area on a periodic basis to develop and maintain contacts with community grantees, prospective applicants and other community partners.

· Other activities deemed appropriate by Executive Director that will promote and enhance breast health services throughout the service area.
