Dear Greater Nashville Susan G. Komen for the Cure Supporter,
Our organization greatly appreciates your time and financial contribution over the years. We are honored and fortunate to have you as an ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, especially the Greater Nashville affiliate. Thanks to you, our affiliate has granted more than $2.2 million in the past five years to local organizations that provide breast cancer screenings, education and treatment to women in our 11-county service area.
Komen supporters are the foundation to this organization, and your continued commitment helps raise awareness of our mission --to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
We count on your in your role as a Susan G. Komen ambassador, and would like to share with you a few facts about our local affiliate.
· 25 percent of our local revenue goes toward international ground-breaking research to eliminate breast cancer, including efforts to develop a vaccine (which included over $2 million for research efforts at Vanderbilt in 2011).
· 75 percent of the money we raise stays in Middle Tennessee and is used by organizations to educate women about breast cancer as well as screen and treat women and men who have breast cancer.
· The Greater Nashville affiliate provided grants to 13 organizations in 2011 that included the American Cancer Society, Metro Public Health Department, Minnie Pearl Foundation, Saint Thomas Health Services, Siloam Family Health Center, Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition, Tennessee Department of Health and the YMCA.
Because of our grants….
More than 7,500 women received mammograms
1,380 women had clinical breast exams
140 women were treated for breast cancer
1,800 nights of lodging were given to breast cancer patients
The Mission in Motion Mobile Mammography outreach program was launched and has served over 1000 uninsured or at-risk women in the last seven months
More than 30,000 people were educated on self-breast exams and local breast health resources!
Your continued support is important to us and critical to the success of the organization. If you have any questions about Susan G.
